We are The Immediate, a three-piece band from Mold in north Wales. We have released two EP’s and a single, receiving airplay and support from Tom Robinson on BBC 6Music, BBC Introducing, and from a host of excellent independent radio shows and blogs (Louder Than War, Sweeping The Nation, The Breakdown, Music Is My Radar).
We release our debut album, ‘Manbuoy’, on 16th June 2017 on limited edition CD (available from our bandcamp page) / as a download (iTunes / Amazon) / to stream via Spotify etc. and from the following independent record shops: Spillers Records, Cardiff and VOD Music, Mold.
‘Manbuoy’ is an unselfconscious love letter to pop music, as we understand pop music; a celebration of the infinite possibilities of the imagination, as expressed through larynxes, wood, steel strings and a heavily-abused drum kit.
We love The Beatles, The Jam, Teenage Fanclub, The Cure and The Smiths, but there is nothing classicist, derivative or retro about ‘Manbuoy'. These songs are forged directly from our experiences of today, experiences of life, death, divorce, love, breakdown and work that are common to many of us in the 21st Century. Music rarely changes the world, but it can provide a great soundtrack if it’s true to its time and the lives of its creators: ‘Manbuoy' is both of these things.
We hope we have filled the album with melody and resonance, brought songs into the world that aren’t just there to vibrate the air feebly, and then disappear.
‘Manbuoy’ was recorded at Orange Sound Studios in Penmaenmawr, North Wales from June ’16 - April ’17 by Russ Hayes, who has worked on recordings by Peaness, Campfire Social, Kidsmoke, Catfish and the Bottlemen and Billy Bibby and the Wry Smiles.
